These are just a few events mentioned during the Colloquy - You may be able to find other events in your community by researching the organizations we list below.
October 10th - World Homelessness Day: Conversations on a Bench. Shelter KC will be hosting a 24-hour online streaming event to share conversations and stories about unhoused in our region. Keep an eye out for more details about this event at the two links, above.
November 10th - Independence, MO Study Session on Houselessness. The link and agenda will be posted on the city of Independence's website closer to the day.

One step that was discussed was to go to your city council meetings and find out what your city is doing to help end houselessness. So go to a meeting! To make it easier, here are links to more info about a few of the KC Metro city council meetings. If you don't see your city on this list, please take the time to look it up.

Organizations that could use our support while working to end houselessness:
Artist Helping the Homeless - The mission of AHH is to reduce the need for and cost of care for the homeless by: Providing aid with respect. Providing advocacy for those seeking to leave the street. Raising awareness of homeless issues in Kansas City.
City Union Mission KC - Meets people's immediate needs and moves toward physical, emotional, and spiritual wholeness.
Central Avenue - Center of Hope - Vision is to provide services to the homeless and underprivileged in the area near downtown Kansas City, Kansas. Services include lunch-time meals on weekdays, holiday meals on Christmas and Thanksgiving, homeless outreach, food pantry, and thrift store.
Community Services League - Provide help today for those struggling to make ends meet; offer hope for tomorrow while connecting individuals with coaches who care and resources to build financial stability and self-sufficiency.
Family Promise of the Northland - committed to help unhoused and housing insecure families and individuals in Clay and Platte Counties achieve self-sufficiency.
Good Shepherd Community of Christ - .Monday - Thursday 10am -2pm drop-in center serving unhoused neighbors
Habitat for Humanity - working together to build more prosperous and vibrant communities by making sure everyone has a safe, affordable place to call home.
reStart - the ONLY homeless shelter in KCMO serving children, families, singles, and veterans.
Shelter KC - works with each individual to create a personal life transformation.
Zero KC - Kansas City, MO also has a plan and they encourage any city who could benefit from it to use and adopt the plan (we learned about this plan in October of 2022, here's a link to that recording)
